Dr Tim’s Aquatics Time-Release Waste-Away Gels continuously dose good bacteria into your tank. These bacteria slime and degrade organics leaving your tank clean and water clear. The gel last up to 30 days and will change to a gray color when it needs to be replaced.
Instructions: Unzip the clear wrapper, remove the tab, attach the suction cup (included) and stick the gel anywhere in your tank or filter box. Do not place gel in direct water flow. For deep cleaning, use Waste-Away Liquid first, then use the Waste Away Gel to maintain a clean tank.
Caution: use the proper size gel for your tank. Do not use a larger gel in a small tank. Do not add other bacteria products, amino acids, fertilizers, sugars or vitamins within 48 hours of placing the gel in your tank. Also after a big cleaning the water may turn hazy. If so, remove the gel and store it in a sealed plastic bag in a dark, cool place (no need to refrigerate). Once the aquarium water clears the gel can be returned to the tank.
Tips: In some cases, a bacterial biofilm may form on the gel. This is normal and is food for many organisms. However, you can gently remove the gel from the tank, wipe the film off with a paper towel and return the gel to the tank.
